My BBQ pork recipe for sandwiches makes pulled pork in a slow cooker. While most meat requires ½ – 1 cup of liquid , but pork shoulder requires no liquid due to its high fat and collagen content. This BBQ pork recipe uses a dry spice mixture and creates a BBQ flavor without any tomato. What’s more, this easy meal can be made with items you likely already have in your pantry. While most times liquid is required to cook meat in a crockpot, pork shoulder has enough fat and water in it to slow cook without adding additional liquid. It isn’t necessary to cook your pork in this spice rub, as you can add it to pork already cooked or purchased shredded pork. This recipe will make 12 to 24 pork sandwiches, depending upon the size of the sandwich.
This meal is great for feeding folks at holiday gatherings, reunions or a kids sports team dinners. I love this recipe, because the crockpot does all of the work. Just serve the meat with sandwich rolls and a few sides, such as chips coleslaw or baked macaroni and cheese for an easy and practical meal.
Serve the BBQ pork alone on a bun or add our Deli Coleslaw for a creamy and flavorful addition to the sandwich.
BBQ Pork
The pork may be used as sandwiches on soft buns. I added creamy coleslaw for added flavor.
