Preparing a delicious dinner in just 30 minutes is entirely possible with the right pasta recipes—quick cooking time, minimal ingredients, and maximum flavor are the keys. Pastas that come together in under 30 minutes are ideal for busy weeknights, last-minute guests, or when you’re craving something comforting yet fresh. These dishes leverage simple techniques like one-pot cooking, pantry staples, and fresh add-ins for restaurant-quality results at home. Having a stocked pantry can ensure you have on hand what is needed to put together a quick evening pasta.
One of my favorite movies is Nora Ephron’s Heartburn. In one of the early scenes, the protagonist is hosting the man she will later marry. She goes into the kitchen and comes out with Pasta Carbonara which they share. All she needed on hand was bacon or prosciutto, eggs, past, a little white wine, cream and parmesan cheese. I had originally made Pasta Carbonara from the recipe from The Silver Palate, but I never loved it. When I later experimented with another recipe, it added a half cup of wine and made the pasta creamy by adding one cup of reserved pasta water.
While not all of our 30 minute pastas can be made with ingredients from your pantry, all of them can be made from preparation to cooktop to table in under 30 minutes. All of these may be eaten with a crusty bread, rolls or a side salad to round out your meal.

Any of these pastas will serve as a main course with a garden salad and bread on the side.
