The weather was beautiful on Saturday, so my photographer and photo editor, Rachel and I headed down to Eastern Market to get some food for this week’s recipes. It was a little more crowded than I expected, because The Michigan Brewer’s Guild was holding the Annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival. There were plenty of vendors with an abundance of produce.
Rachel and I started going to Eastern Market when she was about a year old, some 23 years ago, when we lived in North Rosedale Park. I would take her stroller and grab her a bagel from a bakery at the market to appease her during the trip.
I haven’t been keeping up with my garden watering, so tomatoes and jalapenos are in short supply, so I bought these as well as habanero peppers for a new jam recipe I am developing. One vendor also had beautiful bunches of leeks, so I grabbed them for my cock a leekie soup..
